1.  Shanthi was asked to introduce the Salutatorian during the 8th grade promotion ceremony!
2.  Chad was able to deliver 2 donated and refurbished bikes to some children in the community!  They were so happy to receive their new bikes!
3.  We try to ride each Sunday.  Malaysia has so many amazing places to cycle!  This was a nearby mosque in Putra Jaya.
4.  Nature and sunsets are so incredible.  Of all the places we have travelled to, the most beautiful sights are always sunsets over water - God is amazing!
5.  This is a map of where we will be this summer.  Please let us know if you are near the route - Starbucks on us!!
6.  Some of the kids from the bike repair club.  A staff member donated money after we fixed their bike and we used it to celebrate the end of the year with drinks!

The End...

What a year it has been for Shanthi! She officially wrapped up her first school year on Friday, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see the impact she's had. We've heard so many wonderful expressions of appreciation from both teachers and students. Their kind words are a testament to your unwavering support, as we wouldn't be here without you! Here's just a glimpse of what some of her students shared: "Thank you for making science class fun," "I will miss you, thank you for being the best teacher ever," "Thanks for teaching us and dealing with our shenanigans" and "I've learned so much." We are so proud of her and all she has accomplished!

...the Middle...

In May, Chad had the privilege of attending a Business as Mission (BAM) conference. It was an inspiring gathering of nearly 100 individuals, all dedicated to using business as a powerful tool for social, economic, spiritual, and financial transformation in communities across the Middle East and Asia. Being in a room filled with so many people passionate about this cause was truly amazing. For the past five years, Chad has been supporting EMI's business offices, and to see such a vibrant community coming together with a similar mindset gave him renewed hope and excitement for what God is doing through the business community.

Additionally, Chad has been leading a bike repair club at the school.  He's had about 4 students consistently attend and has taught them how to fix a flat, lube a chain, as well as replace and adjust brakes.  Another staff member donated 2 old bikes, which the students tuned up and then were able to donate them to a refugee family here in KL.

... and The Beginning

We also want to share an important update regarding Chad's role at EMI. His current position will be coming to an end later this year. While we don't have all the details yet, we are definitely planning to remain in Malaysia. Our hope is that Chad will be able to continue utilising his international business and engineering skills to support and encourage like-minded firms in the region, building on what he has been doing in Cambodia, Egypt and India. This is a significant change, and we are trusting God for clarity and direction in this new season. We will be sure to provide more updates and information in our upcoming newsletters. Thank you for your continued prayers as we navigate this transition.

This summer we will be travelling around the USA to visit family and friends, updating them on our year in Malaysia and sharing more about our upcoming transition.  If you are anywhere near the blue line in the picture to the left, let us know, we would love to meet and chat at your favorite lunch or coffee spot!
  1. Praise God for the completion of our first school year in Malaysia.  It has been filled with so many wonderful things we could not have even imagined!  We truly believe that God knew exactly what we needed and placed us here in the perfect place!
  2. Please pray for Chad's transition at EMI.  May God open up the right doors for Chad to use his skills and experience for God's glory!
  3. We appreciate your continued prayers for our children.  Ask God to meet their needs and to continue to bring wonderful people into their lives.
  4. We will be returning to the USA this summer to visit our children and extended family.  Our trip will involve 22 states, 7,000+ miles and over 10 days of driving.  Please pray for great connections, enjoyable time in the car and times of rest.
Shanthi's Scholarly Snippets

Did you know...?

next school year I get to trade my 4 middle school science classes for 1 high school environmental science class.  I get to keep my 2 geometry classes but get to add on 1 Algebra 2 class and 2 math study halls.  I'm getting closer to being only high school math!
From Chad's Bookshelf

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here is a quote from his recent reading

  • If it all ended today and you could never work a day more in your life, and someone began asking you about your work life, tell me how you would answer this question: What is the most significant career accomplishment you have ever had?
