1.  Chinese New Year in Malaysia is AMAZING!!!  Lion dance performances are at all the malls and schools. This group came to Shanthi's school and put on an amazing performance!
2.  One of the more famous streets in all of Malaysia - Jonker Street in Malacca is decorated for Chinese New Year.  Chad and Shanthi spent a weekend here learning more about the beautiful country of Malaysia.
3.  A brief holiday with our daughters resulted in a quad ride along the beach!  So grateful for their visit!
4.  While visiting Cambodia, Chad got to join a signing and handover ceremony for a recently completed project for Bloom Asia.
5.  We love hosting people in our new house.  This couple are bike travelers from the USA.  They started the journey in the UK and are now cycling through SE Asia.  It is wonderful to open our home and be a part of their journey.
6.  Chad's love for biking and desire to serve has come together!  He is helping to start a bike repair club at Shanthi's school.  He will provide some training and then the club will serve the local guards and day laborers by providing basic maintenance to their bicycles!

Cookies and Coastal Adventures in Malaysia!

Shanthi's passion for teaching extends far beyond the classroom walls.  This Christmas, she invited her middle school students over for an afternoon of cookie baking, Christmas movies, and good company.  It was such a great opportunity to connect with her students on a more personal level, build relationships and foster a sense of community.  Sharing laughter and holiday cheer over warm cookies was a sweet way to end the semester.

Shanthi's also making waves (pun intended!) as the leader of the school's marine biology club.  This exciting role will allow her to chaperone 8th grade students on a week-long trip to Eastern Malaysia in a couple months!  It's a fantastic opportunity to explore the wonders of marine life and, more importantly, to continue sharing Christ's love with these students outside the traditional classroom setting.  She's looking forward to the adventure and the chance to make a lasting impact on their lives.

Exciting Partnerships in Cambodia!

During Chad's recent trip to Cambodia he attended the dedication of a stunning new ministry center for Bloom Asia, an organization empowering individuals formerly in the sex industry. Our design and construction team transformed an outdated building into a beautiful bakery and cafe space for skills training. Their old space was too small and inefficient, but this new purpose built center will allow them to train and serve so many more people!

Check out this inspiring video about Bloom Asia's work – it's truly remarkable! We're honored to partner with them and other organizations, providing design and construction services that build hope and transform lives in Cambodia and beyond!
  1. Chad will travel to India on Sunday for a short time with the Office Director and to kick off a new project.  Please pray for this trip to go well.
  2. We appreciate your continued prayers for our children.  Ask God to meet their needs and to continue to bring wonderful people into their lives to be His hands and feet.
  3. Please pray for the right people to fill the needs at Shanthi's school next year.  There are many openings!  If you know a teacher interested, here's the link of what positions are open.
  4. Please continue to pray for our office in India and our leadership team.  There are many decisions that need a high degree of communication, unity and wisdom.
Shanthi's Scholarly Snippets

Did you know...?

If you interweave 2 stacks of only 10 post-it notes, you can hang a lot of mass from it? By the friction between those small pieces of paper, you can easily hold over a pound of items.  I had my 8th graders hanging paperclips, headphone cases, hair clips, and a bunch of other items just to see home much they can hold.  Here's a link to the experiment we did in class that you can do at home if you want to see how much sticky notes can hold.
From Chad's Bookshelf

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here is a quote from his recent reading

  • Go out of your way to initiate relationship with those who look like they may be new to the culture without making them feel weird. Don't let their experience here, however brief or long, not include a hospitable Christian with an open life and home. The world has come to us, so let's open our doors and watch God bring about change.
