World Wide Travels

Around the world in 80 days?  How about 18?  Chad did that very thing recently on his travels.  Leaving Malaysia, he headed east to San Francisco to spend a few days with friends and family before heading east to Colorado to attend meetings at EMI's headquarters.  From there he continued heading east to Egypt where he spent time engaging with our office there before jumping on his last flight east, returning to Malaysia 21,000 miles later (see the map below and read on to hear more about the meetings)!

With only a few days in Northern California, the days were filled with lunch meetings, morning runs and great conversations with family.  Onward to Colorado for a week of meetings to discuss the challenges facing our office in India.  The meetings were full, challenging and typically generated more discussion topics.  Chad left with some good direction and others had a better understanding of the challenges faced by the office.

From Colorado, Chad flew to Egypt to check in on our office team there. They recently moved to a new location as they had outgrown their previous office space.  Chad was able to attend their open house and officially welcome their new Office Director!   It's great to reconnect and see the growth and development of our team there.

Back home in Malaysia, Shanthi continues to settle into her teaching role. She's getting more comfortable each week, however a recent assignment required the students to write a short essay and it has taken all of Shanthi's strength to correct these!  She hates grading papers, which is why she teaches math, NOT English! It's been a busy semester and she's excited to recharge during the upcoming Christmas holiday break.

If you or anyone you know is interested in teaching positions next year, please see the Oasis website.  There are many positions available and we would love to have company in Malaysia!

As we approach the end of the year, we want to thank you for your continued support. Your generosity has allowed us to serve others around the world. As we look ahead to 2025, we invite you to consider a year-end gift to support our mission work.

We're grateful for your continued prayers and support. Your partnership makes a real difference in what we're able to do.

1.  Some of our staff in the Egypt office!
2.  Have you ever felt like going straight ahead felt like a lot of twists and turns?  Some of the highways in Kuala Lumpur are quite confusing, but Google Maps saves the day!  Starbucks gift card to anyone who guesses where we were coming from on this trip.
3.  Winter weather!  Not in Kuala Lumpur though.  While Chad was in Colorado there was an early snow storm.  He was the only one crazy enough to brave the weather and get on the road.  He didn't travel 21,000 miles to have meetings on Zoom!
4.  We recently hosted our first bike tourist in Malaysia!  So grateful to connect with this couple heading to France from Singapore on a tandem!
5.  Chad was fortunate enough to sneak in a game with Nathan and Hope while he was back in Colorado!
6.  21,000 Miles of flights!  Anyone have extra airline miles for upgrades?  Those 14 hour flights are getting rough on Chad's back!
7.  More staff in our Egypt office.  Chad is fortunate enough to get to enjoy great meals with great people all around the world.  The conversations are fantastic as well!
