1.  Cycling in the Midwest of the USA was amazing!  This is a farm in rural Ohio.
2.  After our bike trip we were able to spend some quality time with some great friends in Minnesota.  We hiked, rode bikes, prayed together and laughed a lot!
3.  Miriam has moved to Minneapolis and is starting her Masters program at St. Thomas!
4.  We did it!  Starting in Florida we biked to Michigan!
5.  Such amazing beauty along the way of our bike ride - we were thrilled to cycle the C&O and GAP Bike Path from Washington DC to Pittsburgh PA.
6.  More beautiful scenery along our bike route - This is near the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

A Time of "Rest"??

After a long and challenging season in India, a short transition to Cairo and an imminent return overseas to a new assignment, EMI leadership recognized our fragile state and graciously allowed us to take some extra time away this summer.  So, after our children's graduations and wedding that started the summer, we began an unforgettable challenge: a 2,000-mile bike ride up the East Coast from Jacksonville, Florida to Washington, DC, and on to Detroit, Michigan! This incredible journey pushed our physical limits while providing us with breathtaking scenery and unforgettable memories. It was a truly inspiring experience that recharged our spiritual and emotional batteries, while exhausting our legs!  It was just what we needed!!

As we write this, we are in transit to our next assignment in Malaysia! We are excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. Shanthi will be starting her new teaching position at Oasis International School outside of Kuala Lumpur next week. We are eager for this new season and have renewed energy to learn new things, experience a new culture and continue pointing others to God in this beautiful new country.

India Office Update

The last two years we spent in India with the EMI office were filled with many difficult operational decisions that were unable to be shared in the moment.  However, we are now able to provide a brief update on the office and operations there.

Due to increasing operational challenges, EMI made the difficult decision to restructure its India operations. This involves winding down the local business and parting ways with many valued staff members. While this process has been extremely painful, EMI's commitment to India remains steadfast. Our new Office Director is doing a fantastic job exploring new partnership models to continue our work in the region and ensure that operations are ongoing, albeit in a different structure.  Our goal is to find like-minded local partners to work closely with to provide complete design services to ministry partners.  The India office is not shutting down and EMI is not leaving India. The staff are continuing to work like every other EMI office as they explore these various new models.

Thank YOU!

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we navigate these changes to the India office and our living situation. We look forward to sharing more about our transition to Malaysia in our next update.
  1. Pray for our transition to Malaysia.  We are asking for a great community and wisdom to learn how to live in this new and exciting country.
  2. Pray for Shanthi as she restarts her teaching career.  May God fill her with excitement, patience, wisdom and favor with her students and co-workers.
  3. Pray for our children who continue to learn and grow into amazing adults.  They have so many decisions to make on a regular basis, please join us in praying that God would lead them and they would have ears to hear His voice.
  4. Pray for the staff of the India office to find the right partners in the upcoming season.

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here is a quote from his recent reading

  • We've so often seen leadership twisted that we've lost a biblical view of what ruling, or exercising  dominion, really means. God, ruler of the universe, is living proof that ruling can and should be good.
