Make an End of Year Financial Gift
As you plan your end of year giving, would you consider a one time financial gift at the end of the year?  Thanks!

1.  We took advantage of the need for a visa run by heading to the beach!  So much fun!
2.  Air quality before Diwali.
3.  Air quality after Diwali.
4.  Diwali decorations in a Muslim neighborhood near our house
5.  Honking hurts - it sure does
6.  Horn Please - who will win the war on honking?  It seems the honking is winning by a landslide
7.  Our office in India!  We are hoping to move spaces sometime next year to a commercial space.  Currently we are in the basement of a residential flat.

We're thankful for...

Visas

In our last newsletter we asked for prayer about Shanthi's visa and our incoming interns.  We've got great news!  Thanks to God for answering your prayers!  We did a quick visa run the beginning of the month and Shanthi was approved for an e-business visa which gives her another year of coming and going in India!  And one of our interns who is coming in January has already had her visa approved as well.  That leaves one more visa to go!

Family

We will be headed back to the US for two weeks to spend Christmas with our kids and other family members.  Our kids are at very exciting stages of life and it is so important to connect with the regularly as they process new jobs, living situations, relationships, university and many other major life decisions.

Air Purifiers

Since Diwali this past Sunday, the air pollution has gotten really bad.  One newspaper article said the AQI was over 600 from all the smoke from the burning fields around the city and the nearly constant fireworks all over the city during Diwali (below 50 is healthy and over 300 is considered "HAZARDOUS").  Officially the fireworks are banned, but practically... Well, people still want to celebrate, so we heard them going off until nearly midnight from all around our neighborhood.

Diwali

Diwali is kind of like Christmas in the US.  People put up lots of colorful lights.  Family members give gifts to each other.  It's very quiet at the malls on Diwali day, but super busy in the weeks leading up to it. And the weather is starting to get colder.
  1. Last time we asked for prayer for visas, wisdom for the new office director, family health, direction for our future. I'm happy to report that we've gotten half of the visas, but we're still waiting for 3 more - 2 from our Fellows and 1 for Chad.  The new office director is doing phenomenal!  Our family has stayed out of the ER recently.  And we have some direction about our future.
  2. Please pray for our time back in the US for Christmas.  Aside from visiting family, and eating too many Christmas cookies, we have a lot of logistical items that we need to take care of.  It will be a very quick trip and quite full.  Pray for strength and an ability to compete the necessary tasks.
Shanthi's Language Lesson

Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. People celebrate by lighting small clay pots of oil and placing them in front of their homes. People also create designs from colored sand. If you are interested, here's a short video explaining Diwali .

From Chad's Bookshelf

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here is a quote from his recent reading

  • ...the most remarkable change of all was in how so many members of the colony had grown less afraid of change. The army of volunteers was now an irresistible force of change. And none of those powerful penguins would ever want to miss again the excitement and the learning that happens to all of us when you come together with others to make something extraordinary happen
