2 weeks in Delhi Walks in the park South Delhi, where we are now, is known for its large local parks and we have taken advantage of them in the early morning. On our very first walk however, there was a rather large monkey sitting right in the middle of the walking path. We took our cues from the Indians who were walking by it without a care, but were still nervous that it might bite us or jump out at us! Fortunately, we walked by without incident. Apparently, this monkey was just people watching! We found another park near to our new home that's called Hauz Kaus Forest and it is home to many wild peacocks! A lot of neighborhoods are built around a small community park like one might picture in London (I'm thinking of the movie Notting Hill). In the bigger parks there are people running, exercising on the park exercise equipment, playing cricket, soccer, badminton, doing yoga, or just meeting up with friends. We feel very fortunate to still have access to nearby parks, just like our previous home in Rocklin, California. Who knew that Delhi and Rocklin have so much in common!! Prayer time I've been struck by how amazing it is to be involved in an international missions group. It was such a pleasure to hear Indians praying for Cambodians, South Africans praying for Mexicans, and Americans praying for India. We even had a one day spiritual retreat focusing on the parable of the prodigal son from the view of the prodigal, the older brother, and the father. At the end each person shared what God had been speaking to them through the day. Super encouraging!!! Up Next Let's just say we've been busy booking plane tickets. We leave tomorrow to go to an EMI leadership training conference in Spain. A couple weeks after we get back, we head to Cairo to visit and encourage the office there. The week after we return from that trip, we take an overnight train with the EMI India staff for a week of training and teaching. It's going to be a busy time. But we are so thankful that Shanthi can finally travel WITH Chad and they aren't separated for weeks and weeks. |
