1.  Attending a friends wedding just last weekend!  So fun to see families joined together through this special day!

2.  Chesna graduates from Trinity Western University!!!  Senior portraits are just one of the many items that are in process as the day draws near!

3.  Working at the Sacramento Bike Kitchen.  This pink bike was eventually donated to a recently arrived refuge family!

4. Chad's love of bike riding is even better when he can do it with family!  This is his first ride of the year and with his dad!

5. Moses starting High School volleyball!

6.  Chad recently biked around this mountain range outside of Sacramento.  It is sometimes referred to as the "Smallest Mountain Range in the World".  Starbucks gift card to the first one to name it!

42 and counting...

While Chad did recently celebrate a birthday, it was not his 42nd - that was quite a while ago!  However, after about 3 months of being in the Sacramento area, Chad's travels resume tomorrow with a trip to Colorado for the annual EMI Directors Conference.  In early April he will be in India office for a short time, followed up with a trip with Shanthi to Canada to see Chesna graduate from University!  Shortly after that, he is off to the Middle East to support the EMI office there.  Chad has a tendency to keep track of random things, such as places we have stayed overnight since we left Cambodia.  The count is now up to 42 and will grow significantly over the next 3 months - as long as travel continues to open up and no COVID related restrictions get in the way!

On the home front...

While in Sacramento, we have had the privilege of helping with a few different organizations with our extra time.  One has been the Sacramento Bike Kitchen, which is a low cost community bike shop.  At the end of the year they were able to donate over 50 used kids bikes to recently arrived refugees in the area.  We spend a few nights volunteering to get the bikes ready to roll while honing our bike repair skills!

Shanthi has also been working at our local Target!  When we returned to the USA Shanthi thought it would be great to get seasonal jobs at a place where she could be active and meet new people.  She has developed some good relationships and has been able to encourage her co-workers in many different ways.

Ministry update...

Both Chad and Shanthi are involved in various ways.  Chad continues to work part time supporting the various EMI offices in his region.  Shanthi has just started a home group learning about befriending our Muslim neighbors.  Her group is looking forward to going out to a Halal market and visiting a mosque in the next couple of months.   We are both also volunteering at our church's grocery distribution outreach and at an Arab community center.

Financial update...

Thank you to everyone who made a year end or new year contribution!  We realized that the link in our last newsletter was not working.  Below is the correct link, if you would like to sign up or contribute a one time financial gift.

Support Us Financially
  • Please pray for the upcoming EMI Directors Conference.  Nearly 25 people will be in attendance from all over the world and we will be discussing many various topics that have long term impacts throughout EMI.

  • Please pray for the situation in the Ukraine!  We don't know of anyone personally who has been impacted, but the situation is in desperate need of prayer!

  • Shanthi will be leaving Target in a couple of weeks.  Please pray that the impact she has made on her coworkers will be lasting and that she has more opportunities to share with them in these last couple weeks.

  • Please pray for Moses as he thinks about what the next season of his life will look like.

Previous Requests:

  • Our girls are finishing up their semester at University.  Please pray for them to have peace and wisdom as they write their final papers and take exams.
.   - Exams went well and they are both doing awesome with their grades!  Thank you for your prayers!

  • Moses has 2 upcoming volleyball tournaments this month.  He has been having issues with his knee, please pray for strength and health during these weekend long tournaments.  - Moses was able to get through the tournaments and had a couple month break before high school volleyball started.
From the Bookshelf

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here is a quote from his recent reading

"The next time you fear the future, rejoice in the Lord's sovereignty. Rejoice in what he has accomplished. Rejoice that he is able to do what you cannot do. Fill your mind with thoughts of God."
