Visiting... Ah... home! Being back in our home country has allowed us so many opportunities to visit with various people. One of our main challenges while living overseas is missing out on all the family holidays, birthdays and special events. We have been making up for lost time by spending time with parents, aunts, siblings and other extended family members. We are so grateful to be close enough to help with things like building a deck, changing the oil, processing financial documents, and to attend volleyball tournaments, and motocross races! Mexico... In August, Chad had the privilege of visiting Ensenada Mexico, to join a team scouting for the new EMI office in that location. In addition to eating authentic and delicious Mexican food every day (SO AMAZING!!!), he got to meet with the country director, Jorge, and his team. It was encouraging to visit with pastors, ministry leaders and deans of architectural schools who are all excited for EMI to launch an office in this area. Chad came away with great optimism for this office as it will be another one launched by a local national. This brings much greater clarity to the needs of the local design community as well as how EMI's core values of Design, Discipleship and Diversity can work in this context. Middle East... In September, Chad was able to visit the EMI office in North Africa. This was his first international office visit as a Regional Director! Ideally, he will travel to each office at least once a year, and now after 18 months as Regional Director, he was finally able to travel again. It was so encouraging to see the staff, hear their stories and experience what God is doing in the office. While there, he was able to encourage and coach two young couples who will be expatriating from their home country in the Middle East for 3 months to 3 years. He was also able to sit with the leadership team and join them in planning and praying for the future of the office. Here was a brief word of encouragement from the office director after he left: I really appreciate your time, care, wisdom, encouragement, coaching, etc.. It is an incredible blessing to me, and to our office. Thank you so much for your partnership as we continue our ministry from our home country! We could not do this without your prayers and financial support! |
