So Happy Together!

It's not often we're together

Since the last newsletter at the end of August, Shanthi was gone to take Nathan and Chesna to university for 2 weeks.  During this time, Chad went on a project trip for a week and Miriam and Moses went on a high school retreat.  Shanthi came back and finished up subbing for a week and a half just as Chad left for the UK for the annual EMI director's conference.  The week after he returned, Cambodia had a week-long holiday that we took the opportunity to visit Vietnam for 4 days.  As soon as we returned, Chad went on a short project trip.  And now, we are finally back together.  At least for just over 2 weeks when Chad will fly to Vancouver to visit Chesna.

Noah's Ark

Last week, Chad returned to the project site that he went to in September.  For a variety of reasons part of the team couldn't make the trip in September, so it was broken into two separate trips.  In September the team visited with the ministry to get a better understanding of their needs for a campus water system, and began mapping the 500-acre site and performed water sampling to aid in the design of the appropriate treatment systems.  The more recent trip was comprised of the survey team who rode throughout the site on motorcycles gathering GPS data and using the office drone to capture 3,000+ images of the site to create a highly detailed (and very large) photo of the entire site. It was wonderful to see the ministry and the land on two separate occasions, but being away for 2 separate trips was very hard!
PRAISES:
  1. We just celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our first Khmer staff member.  He has been such a wonderful blessing to our office.  I don't know where we would be without his valuable help.
  2. Chesna and Nathan are both doing well at university.  Even Miriam is nearly finished with her first online university course and doing well.
  3. Shanthi finished subbing at Logos for one teacher and may sub for another teacher who is having a baby in Jan/Feb.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
  1. Please continue to pray for new projects at our office.  We have lots of potentials, but still have additional capacity to serve local ministries.
  2. It feels like there will be a mass exodus of staff members this fall/winter with 4 staff members going home for the holidays.  Pray that those who are remaining can pick up the tasks that need to be done.
Would you please click here to send a happy 16th birthday to Miriam?

Good students need more drive and direction than that.

Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • Chad reads "thee" University of Ohio.  Miriam corrects him, "uh... Dad, that says thuh."

  • Miriam, "My pronouns are her, she, and thank you."  A little bit later, she continues, "Wait! I don't have any pronouns."

  • Burger King server asks Moses, "On your whopper BBQ meal, do you want vegetables or no vegetables?"  Moses' answer? "Cheese."  First I'm impressed that the server would ask, and second, who would like to add cheese to the vegetable group?
