I have been doing a lot of research on Cambodia and what it takes to establish the EMI office. Here are some interesting facts about the country and why it is so critical for EMI to be there:
- 8% Annual increase in GDP since 2000
- The country is growing economically at a great rate!
- 80% of the population is involved in agriculture
- 27% of all exports go to the USA
- US Services are well regarded
- We will be seen favorably and our design services are sought after
- There is an expanding middle class
- This means new homes, commercial centers and business areas - all of which need to be designed by qualified engineers and architects
- It will be easier for us to obtain familiar products and have some comforts of home
- There is a major boom in residential and commercial construction
- Again, the need for more qualified engineers and architects
- The market is growing for engineering service providers
- Education is in high demand - especially for technical skills
- 300,000 new job seekers enter the market each year
- We will have a lot of potential candidates to choose from!
- The minimum monthly wage is $160
- With little capital we can hire a number of people
