Gamble's Newsletter 5 Weeks Left, Still Waiting...

Here has how the last week has gone on the adoption front: Shanthi will get home from school and say "Have you heard anything from the attorney?", I will then reply in one of two ways. The first, "No call today, maybe tomorrow," the other reply has been "Yes, he went to court and wasn't able to meet with anyone, he will try again tomorrow." We now have 5 weeks remaining in Uganda and still don't have a date to appear before the court to finalize our adoption. Five weeks is actually still a long time, but we really need to get a court date soon. We have had peace about this though and we thank you for your prayers.
I hope that it is not a lack of faith, but we have started to think of some back up plans just in case we are not able to finalize the adoption and get all the required paperwork done before we are scheduled to leave. One option would be for all of us to change our departure date and push it back a couple of weeks - not good considering we have spent the last few months putting together a schedule for after we arrive back in the USA and there is a significant fee to change our tickets. Option #2 would be for Shanthi to remain in Uganda with Miriam and Moses until things get sorted out. Option #3 would be for all of us to return as scheduled and then either Shanthi or I would return to Uganda sometime in the fall to finalize the adoption. We are all still hoping and praying that we can avoid all of these options and have the adoption finalized and the US paperwork done by the 24th of June as planned!
On a brighter note, there is only 7.5 days left of the school year. Next Friday is the last day!!! Shanthi and the kids have not yet shifted the countdown to hours, but they are close! The first week of June has both Shanthi and I working a few days to close up things at our respective offices and handing things over to our successors, then we are done! It will be a bittersweet time, but one where at least the date is set!
Thanks again for all the prayers, encouragement and e-mails! We are glad that we are not going through this alone!
Resting in Christ,
The Gambles
