Gamble's Newsletter # 136 - Back from Rwanda

Feb 9 - Feb 24, 2009

Picture of the Week

A couple of months ago I wrote about the joy I experienced by seeing a full truck load of Mountain Dew driving down the road. That was surpassed on Saturday when I went to the local shopping mall with Nathan and Miriam. As we were walking around I noticed something very different in one of the health food stores that I don't normally stop at. It had a bunch of familiar foods in the windows so we decided to go in and check it out. What joy we found when we saw boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Hunts Bar-B-Q sauce, and Dennison's Chili! Somehow the owner of the store has a connection that he uses to import all sorts of American food. Since it was in the health food store (and we have been trying to eat healthier lately) the kids and I decided that even though Mac & Cheese and Chili were not on the shopping list Shanthi would be proud of us for picking up some healthy things for dinner!

Family Update

  • We have obtained all the documents needed to finalize the adoption of Miriam and Moses! We will be submitting them to our attorney shortly and will go to court in late April.

EMI & Heritage School Update

  • Chad has returned safely from Rwanda and had a great trip. The team worked on designing a Christian Retreat Centre on the shores of Lake Kivu. The site was amazingly beautiful and the design will allow God's creation to shine through to all who stay there.
  • Jim Hall, the CEO of EMI, will be in Uganda for a week starting next Monday. He is visiting all the EMI offices to encourage those there and to see for himself the reach of EMI. It will be a busy time for Chad and the other staff in the office, but we are all looking forward to it!
  • Heritage is still looking for teachers for next year. If you know anyone with a valid teaching credential and willing to make a 2 year commitment please let us know or have them check out www.missionteach.org!

Praise Reports

  • Chad and the team in Rwanda safely returned and had a wonderful trip.
  • Shanthi has received an application for someone willing to teach at Heritage next year!

Prayer Requests

  • Health! All 4 kids and Shanthi are coughing and feeling weak. It sounds like a zoo each morning as everyone wakes up and just about coughs up a lung!
  • Teachers for next year at HIS.
