1.  Summer brings mangoes.  There are over 1500 varieties here in India.  We did a home taste test with 4 of them.  The numbers at the bottom are our scores.  Since this experiment, there have been other types that have come in season.  So many mangoes, too little time.
2.  The nearby park has trees with beautiful yellow fragrant flowers. Aside from the heat, it's lovely to walk in the park.  The park also includes about 200 peacocks, which have been in mating season recently.  In another month, they'll start to drop their feathers and if I'm lucky, I'll find one to pick up.
3.  Henco & Bianca, our fellow and his wife from South Africa, put together this cute display for Shanthi's birthday.  They did something math themed knowing Shanthi's love for numbers!
4.  EMI's newest office in Mexico is growing!  Chad visited Mexico in the summer of 2021 to help plan for the new office and now it is fully up and operational.
5.   Chad has connected with a local cycling group in Delhi!  To celebrate World Cycling Day (June 3rd) there was a large group ride around the city.
6.  Right -->  During our recent trip to Cambodia we got the pleasure of joining the office on a dinner boat cruise.  Nothing beats great friends, pizza take out and karaoke on the Mekong River!

Temperature Check

Weather

Since our last newsletter, we've had 27 days over 100 degrees Fahrenheit . There's not been a lot of rain, yet. And we're glad that at least it's a dry heat.  The humid heat will come to Delhi in another month or so.

Headed South for the Summer

Today (Friday) we fly to the South Indian city of Chennai for a few days. Then take a 3 hour bus further south to the city of Pondicherry for a day.  We finish our South India tour with a few days in Bangalore, one of the largest cities in Southern India.  Chad will spend a lot of his time scouting for potential staff members (including a new director for the India office), investigating possible new office locations, networking with former volunteers and interns, and exploring possible partnerships with some engineering and architectural firms.  Shanthi is going to go see a co-worker's baby and attend some of the meetings with Chad and take notes.  We may even get to spend some time at a botanical garden or one of India's famous beaches!

49!

Fortunately that's not the temperature today in Celsius in Delhi.  That would be 120 F!  But this is Shanthi new high score!  She had the "perfect" square birthday this year.  Her highlights from the last year were the 3 bike tours. Unfortunately there aren't any upcoming bike tours in the works for at least another year. We've got some we're dreaming about, but nothing planned.  If you have suggestions, we're open to new ideas!
  1. Chad to be able to juggle his multiple roles of Regional Director and India Office Director.
  2. Nate's still looking for a job.  Please keep praying for him to find a great place where he can learn and grow professionally and would have a great environment.
  3. July and August we'll be back in the US.  Please pray for a vehicle for us to use/borrow.  I mean, we do still have our bikes and we'll likely use those some, but we expect it to be hot and we'd like to take our family members places too. ;)
  4. PRAISE - If all goes according to plan this summer we will be able to spend time with all of our children!  While it won't be at the same time, we are so looking forward to being with them again!
Shanthi's Language Lesson

I know some time back I shared about the multitude of languages spoken in India.  Today I wanted you to see the different ways Indians write the word for "hello." Such beautiful diversity!
