5 Years in Missions!!!

At the beginning of last month, we celebrated the 5 year anniversary of our return to missions.  It is amazing to think back to all that has happened.  Here are some of the highlights:
  • Spending 9 months in India & getting to know the EMI Office - only God knew that Chad would eventually be the Regional Director over the India office and the relationship that were built during this time have proved to be invaluable!
  • Nathan was able to go to China for a month and then as an exchange student for a semester.
  • Friends and family came to visit us - both in India and Cambodia!
  • The EMI Office has been a huge success - People are growing in their faith and profession, and ministries are being served with excellent, culturally appropriate designs.
  • Shanthi teaching at Logos School - God created Shanthi for this and she is incredibly fulfilled!
  • All our kids have had amazing schooling experiences - from home schooling, international sporting tournaments, universities and graduations!
  • God has blessed us with an amazing international community of friends.
  • We learned a new language!

Return To The USA

After spending most of the last 5 years living in India and Cambodia, we have decided that it is time for a return to the USA for a season.  In June of this coming year, we will return to California to spend about 1 year in the area.  Chad will continue his role of Regional Director, this time focusing on strengthening relationships with our headquarters in Colorado.  Shanthi is still exploring a few options of how she will spend her time.  We are looking forward to catching up on all the family traditions and holidays that have been missed these past 5 years as well as reconnecting with our church and getting some much needed R&R.

End of Year Giving

Thank you all so much for your amazing generosity to our family!  We are continually amazed at how God has used you to provide for all of our needs.  Over these last 5 years we have seen a slow decrease in our giving and are now at about 90% of what we started with 5 years ago.  If you are interested in an end of year gift, increasing your monthly pledge or joining our financial support team, please click this link to give through EMI's website: https://emiworld.org/gambles  and help us get back to 100%.

  1. Please continue to pray for the gentleman who was injured in the motorcycle accident when Chad was in the USA.  We nave not received any updates and are not sure if that is good news or bad news!
  2. Please pray for Chesna, Miriam and Moses who are all dealing with online schooling!  It has been very challenging for each of them in different ways.  Finals are coming soon and they are all ready for a break!
  3. There are many logistical challenges with us returning to the USA next year.  Please pray that God would provide for all our needs - housing, a vehicle, extra finances, etc!
Previous Requests:
Continue to pray for our children who are facing so many challenges with school, work and living situations!  Pray that they would be encouraged and be drawn closer to God through these times!  Please continue to pray for this, see above.

Please pray for Chad as he overseas 3 EMI offices and supports the upcoming launch of 2 new offices!  He spends most of his working hours talking with people on 4 different continents.  Pray especially for wisdom as many decisions need to be made on a daily basis.  Chad's feeling the prayers and it is much appreciated!

From the Bookshelf

Chad loves reading and always has a few books in progress.  Here are some great quotes from his recent reading
  • Tourism accounts for 18.7% of Cambodia's GDP and 620,000 jobs.  This represents 13.9% of the workforce in the country.  International arrivals into Cambodia since March is down 97% for Q2 and Q3 of 2020 - Tourism Statistics Report, September 2020, Ministry of Tourism  & Cambodia Economic Update May 2020.

  • "The Church is growing in the global South, and it's just possible that we have more to learn from them than they do from us." ― Barna Group. The Future of Missions Study. 2020.
