3.  Snorkeling off the coast of Cambodia to celebrate Khmer New Year!
4.  A project well done!  And the thanks from it.
5.  Miriam playing soccer - her team came in 2nd in the tournament this past weekend!
6.  Shanthi took a kite to the beach for Khmer New Year and encouraged a kid to help fly it.  He had so much fun trying to grab the tail as well as fly it himself.

Psalm 68:3

"But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yes, let them exceedingly rejoice!"

Milestone

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary of the office being opened with much rejoicing, feasting, and with a day of prayer. It is amazing to see how much has happened in the last year.  We have worked on 34 projects for over 20 different clients, we now have 16 people in our office and have worked on projects in 3 different countries in SE Asia and 6 different provinces in Cambodia.

Launching

In university Nivo felt that God was calling him to construction in order to mentor his staff both professionally and spiritually.  A few years after graduating and with previous construction experience, Nivo joined our staff with a desire to learn more about architecture and construction.  Over the past year we have worked together on various design and construction projects, learning from one another and growing together.  We have had many discussions about running a business, how to treat clients and staff and Christian business principles.  Just recently an opportunity has come about for him to return to the construction industry and build a church that he helped design while with our office.  So, we will be celebrating our time together this coming week and launching Nivo back into the construction industry to fulfill the vision that God spoke to him many years ago.  Our prayer is that the short time he has spent in our office will add to the foundation that God is building in Nivo and allow him to make a huge impact in the lives of those that he employs.  We are sad to see Nivo leave our office as he has been a huge help to many of us, but we rejoice in the fulfillment of God's calling in his life.

Kicks

The high school soccer seasons ends this weekend.  Miriam's team played on Friday and made it to the finals after a sudden death shootout victory.  After a hard fought loss in the final game against the reigning champions, Miriam's team came in 2nd place.  Moses' team plays today!  Check our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Gamblesinasia) for the results of his tournament.

"You have an amazing thing underway, with so many opportunities before you to develop - and enrich the whole EMI/Petram community in the process." - Gary MacPhee, EMI USA Staff who came to visit our office last month
  1. Thank you for praying for Chad and his sciatic nerve problem.  These last two weeks have been much better, but he is still not completely better.  Please continue to pray for a complete healing.
  2. Pray for all of us to finish the school year well.  Nathan has 3 weeks.  Shanthi, Miriam and Moses have 5 weeks and lucky Chesna has just finished her first year of University!  Miriam has such good grades she is worried that she will bomb her finals and fail all her classes (pray that she would have peace)
  3. Miriam has just applied to be the student body Vice President.  The results will be announced next week.  Pray that she would have wisdom to lead the school well if she is elected.
  4. Pray that we would be able to re-connect well with our family (biological and adopted - aka church) while we are back in the USA this summer.
  5. Pray for our office that is experiencing daily power cuts.  We are making due with a small generator, but losing lots of productivity due to various issues working off the generator.

A toad selling skincream

Someone who is peddling a product or an idea but has not used it for themselves.  Their advice has not had an effect on their own life.  This originates from a Cambodian folktale about a toad that wanted to cross a large lake but was afraid because the lake was too big for him to swim across.  The toad promised a gullible crocodile some magic medicine that will cure unsightly skin if the crocodile would give him a ride across the lake.  The crocodile, wanting beautiful skin, agreed.  On the other side, the crocodile demanded the medicine and the toad, now safely on land, replied, "You stupid crocodile - if I had such magic medicine why would I have such bumpy, ugly skin myself?"
Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • Miriam said, "It's not that I'm anti-social.  I just pick my friends very picklely."  I hope she isn't making pickles her friends.  Maybe she's making pickles with her friends.

  • Chad to Miriam, "Does your monkey still have fur?"  I'm not sure what monkey Chad was referring to, but we do NOT have any pet monkeys, just a pet cat.

  • And one from Moses, "wearing a helmet and a hat 70% of the day does stuff to your head."  It's not helping his math skills, either that or he's wearing the helmet or hat for a lot more than I realize.  Which do you suppose he wears to bed, in the shower, and while playing sports?

Moses' Corner Kick

There are only 5 weeks of school left and I am very happy. My sports seasons have ended but we are still going to practice volleyball offseason. I had my last soccer tournament on Saturday and it was very intense. We started the night off well with a 3-0 win. I score two goals and got 1 assist. When I scored my first goal I did a backflip but no one recorded it. The second game we played good until the second half. Then they scored a lot on us and we lost 6-1. In the end, we played for 3-4 and got 4 places even though the other team should have been disqualified. They got 6 yellow cards in the game. That's about all that's happened.  Oh and 33 days till I land in California.
