Why we should stick to Khmer (0:30)

Pix

  1. This Easter we participated in a Good Friday service as well as a sunrise service.  Shanthi made her own Easter Garden (pictured).
  2. The temperature in Cambodia right now is HOT!  The highs have been 90 F or above since early February.  Most days the humidity makes it feel 10-15 degrees hotter!  And there's no sign of cooler temps.  Will we think the summer in CA is nice?
  3. Miriam finally got her growth spurt!  She is now three times the size of her sister!  :)  (One of the 3D art pieces at Panorama Langkawi in Malaysia we visited during our vacation)
  4. $5 Starbucks gift card to the person who can correctly tell us where we found this most interesting mold sample.
  5. Chesna celebrated her 18th birthday playing in a soccer tournament.  She got to be captain and scored a couple of goals.  Happy Birthday!

God is so good!

May 1st Goal Reached!

Remember last month we shared that we wanted to be 50% Khmer in our office by May 1st.  Well, next week, our first professional Khmer architect starts.  With him, 2 Khmer interns, and 2 Khmer administrative staff we'll be at 50% Khmer on May 1st!

Housing

This past month a friend of ours has found housing for us while we are back in the USA.  You know that verse from Ephesians 3:20?  The one that says God is able to do so much more than anything we ask or even imagine?  Well, He's done it again.  We were looking for someplace to lay our head and not have to move around for two months.  What He provided was a 4 bedroom house that is literally across the street from our favorite donut shop (which is mainly important because the owner is Cambodian and we'll get to practice our language with her) and within a couple miles from Chad's dad, his mom, and our home church!  Plus the house is completely furnished, brand new and comes with a car that seats 6 people!  FAR BEYOND ALL WE ASK OR IMAGINE!!

Also, we were able to negotiate with our landlord in Cambodia for keeping our rent the same for two more years and allowing us to sublease our house when we are back in the USA.  This is such a blessing as we won't have to change houses in Cambodia until after Miriam graduates from high school.

Family holiday

Since the kids had a week off school for the new year (Cambodian version of Spring Break) we went on a short vacation to Malaysia to visit some friends with whom we went to church in India. It was a nice time to get away from the stress of Cambodia and see some more amazing sights in Southeast Asia!
  1. Please continue to join Shanthi in praying for discerning what God wants her to do in Cambodia. She's currently investigating teaching English as a ministry opportunity.
  2. Please pray for people to sublet our house for June and July.
  3. Please pray for projects to come into the office.  Without these, there's no work to do and the staff gets pretty bored. 😉

ផ្កា មិន ដែល រីក បាន ១00 ថ្ងៃ ទេ

sounds like "p-ga mun dial reek ban moy roy th-ng-eye tay"

No flower blooms for 100 days

Good things do not last.  Beauty, youth, strength, vacation, etc. all fade with time.
Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • "Eat more Snickers or grease your butt." ~Chad  This was his solution to Moses sliding down a stair railing too slowly after Easter sunrise service.
  • "Oh! I think I just died." ~Miriam RIP

Moses' Corner Kick

Due to teenage boy issues, there is no corner kick this month.
