  1.  Miriam with her friends in the Charlie's Angels pose.
  2. Shanthi w/Nate on a suspension bridge near Vancouver. We were able to fly Nathan to see Shanthi and Chesna in Vancouver.
  3. Chad and EMI teammate Anna @ Bokor Mountain doing a 10k run.  It was super neat!  In 2 weeks, Chad will do a half marathon at Angkor Watt.
  4. Miriam celebrating her 15th birthday.  She says she finally feels like a teenager!
  5. Chesna in front of her university of choice!  So excited to see what's in store for her in Canada!
  6. Our EMI team celebrated the receipt of a large grant to help with the start-up costs of EMI here in Cambodia!

Thanksgiving

What R U grateful 4?

As I reviewed my memory verses this morning I came across 2 Cor 5:21 again and it reminded me of what I'm most thankful.  Also at the top of our list is our AWESOME supporters like you!  Nearly every evening when we say grace at dinner, we are humbled by your ongoing generosity and thank our Lord Jesus for you. Our Thanksgiving tradition is to write down and keep what we're thankful for.  This year, some of ours were: dance team & horrible puns (Miriam), minimal power outages and acceptance to TWU (Chesna), soccer skills and new cleats (Moses), fast internet and learning a new language (Chad), and Nathan coming for Christmas and a green wall in our dining room (Shanthi).  If you reply with what you are thankful for, our family will vote on Thanksgiving Day on the best answer and the winner will be awarded a $5 Starbucks gift card.

Feast

You may not think about this, but Thanksgiving is an American holiday.  We don't live in America and so all of us will be in school on Thursday and Friday.  So, to celebrate Thanksgiving, we plan on having (East) Indian food on Thursday night and go to an EMI team potluck holiday dinner on Saturday.

  1. Please pray for wisdom as we make some important decisions about office location and start date.
  2. Pray for more Khmer staff as we transition into having an office early next year.
A Cornucopia of PRAISE:
  1.  Things are going great with the Khmer staff member!  $5 gift card for Starbucks for the person who can tell me his name.
  2. Chesna has already been granted $9,000 CAD in scholarships for TWU!
  3. Two large grants comprise all of our office start-up costs for EMI in Cambodia.  The office is fully funded for the first year!

"The other day I watched "Lion" based on the book "A Long Way Home". I remember you reading it and telling me about it, and that got me thinking about our time working together. You really taught me a lot. You taught me about work, serving, parenting, marriage, and family. You were very kind a patient with me. I really learned a lot from you. I am thankful for your influence on me."

sounds like "see ch-eye-t bat khl-ian"

ដេក លក់ បាត់ ខ្លាច

sounds like "day loo-ick bat klack"

Eat well and hunger goes, sleep well and fear departs

An encouragement to rest and not to worry on into the night similar to Matt 6:34.

Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • "I can't find it! Where did it go?" ~Chesna, while sitting down with her head between her knees searching her hair.  What could she possibly be looking for in there?

Moses' Corner Kick

There is no corner kick this month due to teenage meltdowns and raging hormones. Stay tuned for next month's exciting adventures of Moses K. Gamble!
