This was one of Nathan's assignments for school. I thought it was so nice I wanted to share it.
The mosque is splayed out in front of a spacious park. The mosque is fenced off, to preserve what is left of it. The mosque looms over the tallest trees, overshadowing the cricket players nearby. The many smooth domes peek over the walls, reminding everyone that they are there. The walls of the mosque have sleek black designs that can only come from fire, but the cobblestone walls stand upright and unbroken.
There are cobblestone steps leading to the entrance of the mosque, each of them unique in height and width. The entrance is an arched doorway, twice as tall as a man. The roof stretches from the doorway inwards, but stops five meters in. Then there is the courtyard, oh the courtyard. Used by many children for their games, it is.

The Mosque
MIGHTY is this stone wall;
burnt by fire, the Mosque has crumbled;
the work of ancients is losing,
the battle against nature and gravity.
Domes are split open, roofs have decayed, [5]
gone is the ancient elegance of the courtyard,
taken by the grasses and rubble.
The solid, dusty earth holds the framework
of the mighty Mosque upright,
since the builders have passed on; [10]
their legacy living on in the strong building.
slowly torn down by the ages,
left abandoned by the rulers of all time.
The domes are cracked in;
the stairs are littered with trash. [15]
The courtyard is filled with bird droppings,
with no one to clean it.
