Merry Christmas! We are fully into the holiday season with our Christmas tree up and decorated, time spent playing in the snow and listening to Christmas music almost everywhere we go. Here is a brief update on our lives:
- Chad's job at Macy's has been going well. Much better than expected and they have even given him a special engineering project of drawing a map of the store to help with the coming inventory process. This is the first engineering type work he's done here! Maybe this is the beginning of something new.
- Today will be Chad's last full day at Macy's as he has just accepted a full time permanent position at Target doing store set up. The hours are 4 am to 11:30 am!
- We are still hoping for a full time engineering position and Chad has been short listed for one position and had a very positive interview at another. Unfortunately, the engineering market is very slow and most firms are very hesitant to bring on new employees. Therefore, it could be a while before Chad lands an engineering position.
- We went up to Oregon last Friday to see a Christmas play at our church. It was wonderful to see friends again!
- We have applied for citizenship for Miriam and Moses. We go for an interview in 2-3 months and if all goes well they should issue us the certificate then and there (or so we have been told)!
- Homeschooling is going great. The kids are doing very well and Shanthi has a lot of resources at hand to help with the teaching.

Hi Chad and Shanthi! I hope everything is going well for you and all the kids, say "hi" to them for me! Miss you all and hope everyone is adjusting well to being back in the states. I just wanted to let you know that the Army Corps of Engineers has been hiring a good amount of engineers lately, and I am not sure if that is one of the 45 places you have applied to or not Chad, but just thought I would pass it along. You can apply on usajobs.gov, and I just looked and there are a few openings in Sacramento and Portland. The only thing is when you apply for those jobs, make sure you tailor your resume for the job description, a computer program weeds out a lot of applicants before any interviewers see the resumes. Hope this helps. And I hope you all have a blessed and Merry Christmas!
Love the snow pictures. Your tree is also nice, maybe I'll get to see it. Looks like the Bethlehem village experience was fantastic!. Merry Christmas!
