New Seasons... Regional Director - Chad A few months ago we announced that Chad was in the process of transitioning to the role of Regional Director and handing off his role as Cambodia Office Director. This transition was complete last week and he is now EMI's first full time Regional Director. His role allows him to support EMI offices in India, the Middle East and Cambodia while also exploring additional offices and opportunities throughout Asia. This has all been made easier with so many offices throughout the world transitioning to online meetings. On his first day he was able to mentor a rising project leader in the Cambodia office, join the India office for morning devotions, meet with staff in the Middle East to discuss a potential project and end with an interview for someone who is interested in joining EMI's upcoming office in Lebanon! Check out his home office! Graduations - Nathan & Miriam This month both Nathan and Miriam will be graduating! Nathan has finished up his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Calvin University and Miriam will be getting her High School diploma from Logos! Both graduations are being adapted due to COVID, but we are so proud of both of them for achieving this milestone and moving into the next season of life. Nathan is planning on staying in Western Michigan and starting a job, while Miriam will be attending Vanguard University in Southern California in the fall. Rainy Season - Cambodia After last seeing meaningful rainfall late last year and experiencing soaring temperatures and humidity, Cambodia is on the cusp of rainy season! Many of the fields are now brown and appear to be dead, but the rain will come and transform the country to a vibrant shade of green. What now appears to be dead will quickly come to life as beautiful rice fields set against lotus flower ponds! The cooler weather and rainfall will be a welcome change, at least until the floods come! COVID Due to COVID the staff of EMI and Logos has been working remotely and all of our children are attending school virtually. This is not the ideal way to end high school, college or to make such a large change of leadership in the EMI office. However, this season too will end. At some point restrictions will loosen, people will again go to parks, sporting events and places of work. We are already beginning to see glimmers of this in Cambodia which has 122 cases to date and 0 deaths. The EMI office will reopen this week and there are even talks of a somewhat normal high school graduation! |
