All things new

Gambles Newsletter                                    10/03/16                               Volume 2, Issue 18

Serving Cambodia through engineering design and discipleship

This video is about EMI's new desire to incorporate national design staff. We are so proud to have served in the India office, which is doing an outstanding job of this!
This is our promo video for our Cambodia office launch that was shown at the World Staff Conference.
Just for fun, we've included the bloopers, just because Chad's in it and he's "sups excited!"

Starbucks Challenge

In case you haven't seen in the past newsletters, we've been hiding an opportunity for you to win a $5 Starbucks gift card by answering a question. Sometimes the questions require a little outside information and sometimes they don't.  Only the first correct response wins the gift card and when we have multiply challenge questions, only one win per family is permitted.

So, here's this month's challenge question:
Why are we going to Cambodia?

New Beginnings

Staff Week

We spent 4 days in Colorado Springs learning about Cambodian history, politics, geography, personality types. We hashed out our vision for this new office launch (see below). And set a top 5 record for an escape room!

New Vision!

You've been hearing about EMI's new vision to incorporate design, discipleship AND diversity.

New Look!

EMI has adopted a new branding and so we've transitioned our blog to match the new EMI brand.  We hope you like the new look!

Nate's in College!

We did it! We dropped him off and said goodbye...  And then saw him again a week later.  We're actually headed back to see him the middle of October as well.  We just can't get enough of him during these next 3 months - IS THAT REALLY ALL THAT WE HAVE LEFT?!?

New Praise Report!

This just in!! Nathan has received enough financial aid to cover the rest of this year at Calvin! Thanks so much for your prayers!

All of our Cambodia team needs to raise the rest of their support needed to move in just over 3 months.  Please pray for favor and wisdom and divine appointments.

We are driving another 4,000 miles this month to Canada for cultural training.  We'll get to spend 2 weeks with our team learning about different cultures.  We even get to go to a Cambodian church and restaurant in Toronto!  But the 5 of us will be in the car for a long time as we travel.  So please pray for grace with each other and good, fun times building our relationships with one another.
Since we still have another 7,000 miles or so to drive, we would LOVE gas cards, restaurant gift cards, or even grocery store gift cards (there's only so many times you can eat out!). YOU CAN MAIL THESE TO 440 SPRING ST. COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80904

If you would like to join our prayer team, click on the "Prayer" link below.

If you are able to join our financial support team with a regular monthly contribution, click on the

If you know someone who you think would be interested in joining our support team, just reply to this e-mail and give us their contact information and we'll follow up.  Please ask them first if it's ok.
Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • Moses said, "Is this my booger or my tooth?" Turns out it was his booger.  Although he lost another tooth as well.

  • Chad was telling the kids about his football career.  Moses said he would likely grow up to be a bench warmer.  Chad said that he was a bench warmer to which Miriam replied, "Well, then, how'd you get Mom to marry you?"

Moses' Corner Kick

I have been back in America for two months now and I didn't realize how crazy and different it is. Like I have to pay $5 for my lunch, when in India, I could go down the street and eat fried sandwiches for $0.50.
It has been nice to be back though.  I can breathe in cleaner air. Well, cleaner than India.  I like that I can play soccer again on live grass.  My favorite part about being back is that I get to see all my friends that I left behind.
I have to say that my layover in Europe was amazing! I got to go to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, and France . It was pretty awesome touring that area.  And I got to gain a bunch of Pokemon Go levels.
So all in all my experiences these past two months have been spectacular.  That's right! Even my homeschooling has been spectacular.
