Final Countdown

Gambles Newsletter                                    07/12/16                                 Volume 2, Issue 16

"We are moving ahead with the various plans you all helped us to clarify."

"This week we are pulling the trigger on the main campus power supply (transformer, panel room, main distribution network, etc.), all of which the team helped us work and think through."

"The calculations of that pump filling our overhead tank in approximately 4 hrs was spot on.  We have now run two tests and come to basically exactly 4 rs for a complete dry to full cycle.  You guys nailed that one too!  Glad we trusted you with it. "

"Really grateful for all you did.  We are blessed because of you. "

Here are a few quotes from the ministry with the hole in the ground that Chad worked with recently.  Thank you for making this ministry's vision a reality!

Our house church - families from Iran, Pakistan, Texas, CA, etc. and some headed to Cambodia ;-) and some to Malaysia.
Chesna with a prayer lantern that we lit off at a going away party for the Coffeys, an amazing couple that has lived in India and worked with eMi for the last 15 years.
Monsoon season has arrived and with it, storms that flood the streets and winds that knock down tree branches and cut power lines.

The Final Countdown

So we're in the final countdown. Again.  Only 13 days left until we leave India and head back to the US.  And Nathan leaves tonight for China!

When we first started thinking about coming on staff with eMi, there were serious doubts about us moving our family of 6 to India for such a short time before relocating to Cambodia. We are so glad that we did!  Here are some of the things God has done while we've been here:
  • We've had lots of family time during Nate's last year home.
  • Nate gets the opportunity to go to China for a month.
  • Moses hasn't had any asthma attacks.
  • Chad got to mentor some really cool people.
  • Chad filled in as the intern coordinator.
  • As the only Civil on staff, he also got to work on the most unique, detailed, and difficult civil engineering projects in the history of the India office.
  • We got to meet a Thai architect who is interested in eMi.
  • The heat in Delhi gives us a new perspective on the heat in Cambodia – we're looking forward to the cooler weather!
  • We got to experience a home church that expanded the way we view church.
  • The girls have grown a lot closer in their relationship.
  • We bonded as a family through the trials of culture shock.
  • God has given us insight into how to choose an office location.
There are so many wonderful things about India and we'll be sad to go.  If you ever get the chance to visit India, we highly recommend it.
  1. Comfort as we say goodbye to Nate here in India as he heads to China and then again in early September in Michigan as we leave him at college. Also for Nate as he makes some major transitions.
  2. Please pray that Shanthi's driver's license shows up soon.  She needs it when we land in Denver to pick up the rental car on Aug 2. - God just took care of this!
  3. Chad will be giving a presentation at the eMi director's conference in 3 weeks on business as mission.  Pray for wisdom and great discussion.
  4. Pray that we would leave India well and that we would incorporate all God's taught us into our lives.

  • Gas cards (we'll be driving ~15,000 miles)

  • Airline tickets
  • A car is nearly taken care of!
Miriam's Massages (or was that messages?)

You know that kids say the darnedest things.  Here you will get a few funny quotes from our kids.
  • Chad said, "I think we should watch less movies."  Miriam replied with, "Les Mis movie?"

  • "At least my hands are cleaner than they would have been if we lived in the Middle Ages." ~Moses as we held hands to say grace before dinner.

  • Moses' knock knock joke:

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Juan.
Juan who?
Wanda just ate my shoe.

Moses' Corner Kick

When we travel we normally have a long layover. My layover this time is going to be in Europe. We land in Switzerland on the 27th of July. I'll have to sleep during the 8.5 hour plane ride. Once we land, we'll spend the whole day in Zurich and there will be a special birthday surprise for me. Then the next day we go to France, then Italy, Liechtenstein, and Germany. My actually birthday is Switzerland's Independence Day so there will be fireworks and BBQ. We leave the morning of the 2nd at 10 AM where we will fly 9.5 hours to Newark. I can't wait for all the movies. Then we fly to Denver and land at 6 PM. That's 13 hours on the plane for one day. The next morning I fly out by myself to Sacramento. That's a lot of travelling in one week!
